Retaining Your Clients
Friday, July 24th, 2009Hi Folks,
I wanted to share some vital information with you about how to retain clients and get them to refer to you for life! We are all passionate trainers and I know you do a great job when you are with your clients but what happens when you are not there? Are they always talking about you and your service to their friends and family? Are they thrilled with your service, sessions and results?
Now don’t panic, 99% of trainers around the world cannot answer all of these questions or even some of them. We are so focused on getting the maximum results for our clients that sometimes we forget to stop and ask what they like and don’t like and how could we improve our service. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to survey them……..often!
Now back in the day I used to create surveys and post them/hand them to my clients and ask for their honest feedback. I would be lucky to get 1 out of 20 back and that was usually from the client who I knew loved everything about the training and it didn’t help me to provide a better service.
Here is the KEY: You need to finish your session 5 minutes early and give them time to fill out the form then and there. Always give them the ability to refer friends and family to you on the same form (VIP’s you have these done for you) so it turns into a client referral exercise as well.
Here’s the clincher! If they ask for something new/different and it fits into your training philosophy GET IT and IMPLEMENT IT! You will show them enormous respect if you take action on their recommendations and you can make special mention of it in your next monthly newsletter (recognise and reward always). Most clients think that these surveys are useless because nothing ever happens when they are honest so you can prove to them you have their best interests at heart and that you are prepared to change.
Get out there and find out what else your clients want, they will thank you with their wallets and with their referrals, go for it!
Cheers
Ric
